There are quite a few flexible point currencies out there, but none that are as flexible as Capital One Venture Miles (okay, I know that’s just my opinion, but hear me out 📣). These points are easy to earn, easy to use, and can be SO valuable toward your travel goals. So the only question is…how will you use your Venture Miles?

Transfer these miles to airline or hotel transfer partners

If you’ve been around at PWP for a while, you have probably heard me say (once or twice 😉) that transferring points to airline or hotel partners is my favorite way to use flexible points. And this holds true for Venture Miles as well! The main reason being the value you can get from transferring to those partners. Like, crazy good value. I prefer to use my Venture Miles for flights because they have some fantastic airline partner options.

Transfer Partners:

  • Aeromexico Club Premier

  • Air Canada ‒ Aeroplan

  • Cathay Pacific ‒ Asia Miles

  • Avianca LifeMiles

  • British Airways Executive Club

  • Emirates Skywards

  • Etihad Guest

  • Finnair Plus

  • Flying Blue

  • Qantas Frequent Flyer

  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

  • TAP Miles&Go

  • Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles

  • Virgin Red

  • Choice Privileges

  • Wyndham Rewards

Use these miles to book in the Capital One Travel portal

I never say never, but I rarely use a bank travel portal to book my travel. Especially if there is a better option for booking when I transfer my points and miles to a travel partner. The Capital One Travel portal is one the bank portal I have used the most, and there can be some instances where it makes sense to book using your miles in the portal.

👉🏻Let’s say you found a really great flight on American Airlines, but you don’t have a way of transferring your points to AA. You could check the portal to see if the rate is fairly comparable, and then use your flexible miles that way!

I always say, do what’s best for your travel goals! ✈️

You can book flights, hotels, rental cars, or other premium stays (like vacation rentals).

To find the Capital One Travel portal, click on View Rewards:

Then select Book a trip:

And this is the page where you can select what type of travel you want to book:

Cover travel purchases with your miles

This is where things get fun: covering travel purchases! So what exactly does this mean? This means that when you charge a travel related purchase to your card, and it codes as “travel” (that part is key 🔑), this purchase will be eligible to be covered with your Venture Miles.

Covering travel purchases allows you to save and use points on travel expenses that you can’t as easily cover (like your flights and hotels).

What are some creative ways to use these miles? Things like:

🏡AirBnB rentals

🎟️Disney tickets (full details on how to make that work here!)

🚊Train tickets

🚗Rental cars

✈️Flight taxes and fees (pay with your airline miles and then charge the taxes to your Venture card and use your points to cover that extra cost)

As long as it codes as “travel,” you can cover that cost with your flexible miles!

My favorite cards that earn Venture Miles

I love earning Venture miles and Capital One offers a fantastic line up of cards that help you rack up those valuable points with ease! From generous welcome offers, to earning a nice 2x the miles on every purchase (yep, ✨EVERY purchase✨), I truly think that everyone should have one of these cards in their wallet.

Some of my favorite Venture Miles redemptions

As I have said before, my top choice for using these flexible miles is to transfer them to airline partners to book flights. We have scored some killer deals this way!

🇬🇷Like our business class flights on Turkish Airlines to Athens, Greece. I transferred my Venture Miles ➡️ Turkish airlines and booked this flight directly with the airline.

🇲🇽Or our flights to Mexico on American Airlines. I transferred my Venture Miles ➡️ British Airways and booked this partner flight deal to Cabo!

So, question is, what would you book with your Venture Miles? 😉

Side note: I cannot say thank you enough for using my links to apply! I earn a commission for those applications at no cost to you, and it helps keep all the free resources and support coming! 🩷
