Looking for an all-inclusive, beachy escape for your family?
🏖️Well then, lucky you! I have found just the place.
We found the perfect spot for our summer getaway at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos! It was the best destination for our family to kick back, soak up the sun, and just enjoy life without a care in the world. For five glorious days, we had a blast at this fabulous beachfront resort that had everything our family needed!
Location
Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is located in Los Cabos, Mexico and is an easy 20-30 minute drive from the Los Cabos International Airport. For our transportation from the airport, I booked a one-way shuttle for our family of 3 through Viator for $54. On our way home, we opted to order an Uber instead which was much easier and cost about $60 (and was much preferred to the shared shuttle).
Booking
This Hyatt property is a category E on the all-inclusive award chart. Current room rates are:
Off-peak: 35,000
Standard: 40,000
Peak: 45,000
When I booked this property in March of 2023, this property was a category B so the standard nights we booked were much cheaper as I booked them right before Hyatt made their category changes for the year! I paid 20,000 points per night for a standard double room (80,000 points total for our 4 nights).
To earn the points we needed for this trip, my husband and I each opened up an Ink Business Cash® Credit Card and pooled our Chase points together to then transfer to Hyatt to book. You could also earn the points you need from a few other favorites like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, or the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card.
Since the points price for the room covers 2 people, we knew that we would have to add our daughter to the reservation and pay for her all-inclusive package. You can either choose to pay cash or points for an additional person in the room. If opting to pay points, it would cost half the room rate and you would need to pay for that ahead of time or at the time of booking. If you choose to pay cash, you would pay this fee when you arrive at the resort.
Keep in mind that the cash rate varies depending on the child’s age and the property you are staying at, so call ahead and get a quote and ask them to note it with your reservation. When I called ahead, they had quoted me $150 per day for our daughter, but we were very happy to only be charged $98 per day!
Rooms
The rooms on the property were so spacious and packed with everything you could dream of for a comfy, relaxing stay! We booked a standard double room that had two beds and a stunning resort view. But you know me—I just can’t resist the chance to score an upgrade…😉 So, a week before our trip, I emailed the resort to let them know we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday and asked for any free upgrades. We hit the jackpot and got upgraded to a swim-up room when we arrived! It was a total game changer, with a pool right outside our door and our very own lounge area. Living. The. Dream.
Our room had a mini bar stocked with snacks and drinks that were refilled every day—and it was all included, of course! With two double beds and a pull-out sofa, we had plenty of space for the whole family to crash comfortably. And let’s not forget our ✨fabulous✨ swim-up pool….perfect for some quiet relaxation away from the hustle and bustle. We loved every second of it!
A small instant coffee machine was also in each room with coffee restocked daily (and remember that all the food and drinks in the room were included so you could drink and eat as much as you wanted without worrying about those crazy mini-bar prices 😬). The bathroom had all the essential amenities, double sinks, a separate toilet stall, and a shower and tub combo area.
Overall, the rooms were somewhat basic but it had everything we needed to be comfortable during our stay!
Amenities and pools
There were no shortage of water activities and places to swim at the resort! We were happy to see there were so many options since we knew that the beach there was not swimmable. We enjoyed laying out by the beach but they do not allow swimming since the water is too rough in that area.
The main pool was at the center of the resort and is where you would find most of the excitement! Think music, swim up bars, contests, trivia, live performances. There was entertainment there daily! Each of the room blocks had a section of swim-up rooms and those pools were only for quests in those rooms. You could also find one adults-only pool on the property which had a separate snack bar and a quieter area for the adults to veg out and enjoy the sun.☀️
You could also opt to rent a cabana for the day and have a dedicated space to relax, keep your things, eat, etc. We did this for three of our days and we thought it was well worth the extra expense! We didn’t have to fight for lounge chairs in the morning (you know that struggle 🤪) and we had a server as well who was fantastic and brought us any drinks or snacks we asked for! The cabana option we chose cost $145 per day and we also got two fresh coconut drinks with that package.
To be honest, the absolute best thing we ate that entire stay were these unforgettable quesadillas from the pool-side quesadilla truck. Seriously. Don’t miss these. Eat at least 5.
And since there was construction during our stay and some of the restaurants/snack stands were closed, they set up a temporary snack station serving hot food each day. They had options like burgers, nachos, hot dogs, chicken tenders, etc. All easily accessible to the main pool area so you never had to step away from the fun!
Dining
As you may know, a huuuggge part of the all-inclusive experience is the FOOD. From quick bites, to drinks, to formal dining, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos had it all. 👏🏻
One of our daily stops (okay, multiple times a day stops) was the Coffee House open 24 hours! We loved grabbing iced coffees or blended drinks to cool off. They also had a great selection of treats and pastries and we made it our mission to try them all. And we succeeded. 🥐☕️
Just outside our building was the Healthy Bar (yes, that is the official name). In the morning you could get delicious smoothies, and in the afternoon they served ceviche and chips and guacamole.
We tried every restaurant at least once during our stay and quickly picked our favorites! The teppanyaki dinner at Dozo was by far our favorite dinner night. This is one spot that you will need to make reservations for as the seating around the table is limited. I recommend making reservations the day you arrive! We also went back to Dozo for our last dinner and tried some amazing sushi, tofu dishes, tempura vegetables. Everything was wonderful.
Another favorite was El Molino, because we obviously were craving some good Mexican food while were there! I highly recommend their chilaquiles, but honestly, everything we had there was so good and we would happily go back!
La Plaza is a great stop to get your buffet fix! The options seemed endless and they rotated their selections each day. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner so you have plenty of opportunities to go. There is also one adults-only restaurant on the property, Bon Vivant, for anyone 18+. This restaurant was closed during our stay, along with the Italian restaurant, Zaffiro.
Activities
While on property, there were plenty of activities to choose from that were all included with your stay. From game nights, to shows, to live music, we were never bored during our trip!
We loved playing pool at Spirit of 1968 after dinner each night. You could stop by, have a drink, watch a game, or play a game of your own.
They also had an on site theater (Teatro Real) which had shows most days, and we really enjoyed seeing “Grease” on our last night! They posted the events for each day on multiple boards around the property so you always knew what was happening and what you could join in on.
Overall thoughts
Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos was a steal for the rate we paid (20,000 points per night) and it is still a good deal at this newer standard rate of 40,000 points per night considering all of your food and activities are included!
We found some amazing food, we were able to relax and soak up the sunshine, and it was a great spot for a summer family vacation! ⛱️🌴🏊🏻
